The holiday season is right around the corner, and now is the time to get your house into the festive spirit of Christmas. whether you intend on hosting the holiday celebrations in your home or not, decorating the house is an excellent way to embrace Christmas cheer. One of the most overlooked areas of the house that could benefit from decoration is the kitchen. For a completely festive household, decorating the kitchen is absolutely necessary, and with the mind set, completely enjoyable. Here are a few different approaches and ideas to consider when decorating your kitchen for Christmas.
One of the first things to consider is where to decorate. At this point, you should determine what parts of your kitchen’s layout are best for decorating. This includes cabinets, shelving, and appliances. Some excellent places to begin, for example, are major appliances. The refrigerator is an excellent decorating canvas. It is very easy to place Christmas decoration on top of the fridge, as it boasts a flat, stable surface. This could be anything from a nativity season, or a small ceramic pesentation of Santa and his reindeer. Magnets coupled with Christmas-themed drawings from children or relatives can cover the doors.
So long as it does not obstruct the function, tinsel can be gently twined around various appliances like the toaster, coffee pot, faucets, and blenders. The top of the microwave, if you have one, also makes for an excellent staging area for figurines.
Once all major appliances are taken care of, it’s time to move on to shelving and cabinetry. Any unused shelf space can be used for Christmas decorations. You ca also rearrange your shelf usage by temporarily devoting a shelf or two to Christmas decorations, creating yet more staging areas for Christmas cheer.
Cabinets and drawers make excellent platforms for decorations that can be attached using non-abrasive tape or other adhesive. Decorate your cabinets with images of Santa, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman!
Any hooks you may have mounted in walls or the ceiling will serve as excellent anchors for hanging decorations. There are some who even choose to hang small ornaments from various cabinet and drawer knobs.
Once you select how you want to decorate your kitchen, the next step is to decide the theme of the decorations. Since the kitchen is traditionally associated with food, having food-themed decorations is an easy and cute solution to decorating the kitchen. Consider things like gingerbread men and candy canes. If you wish to add a bit more detail, create decorations that showcase any Christmas food you intend to prepare.
These are just general guidelines to help you decorate your kitchen for this holiday season. No matter how you choose to celebrate the season, decorating the kitchen is one of the best ways to get into the spirit of Christmas, and the only way to have a home that is fully prepared for the festive cheer of the holiday. Tis the season to be jolly!
