We install hundreds of patios a year of all different shapes, sizes and designs. Many people have their patio installed with a specific purpose such as a place for the kids to play or to relax after a hard days work. Many of our customers though simply have an outdoor space that they want to ‘pretty up’ and have no real desires or goals of what to do with it once complete.

Since we see so many of these types we thought we’d offer a few ideas to get the most out of your outdoor patio:

Install a Kitchen

Outdoor cooking has become extremely popular in the last couple of years. With this, many people have decided to install some sort of kitchen outside. An outdoor kitchen is a great idea because it allows you to socialize with your guests rather than hiding away inside while they’re having all the fun. We’ve seen everything from basic bbq setups to full blown kitchens complete with sink and dishwasher.

As for design ideas, there are many websites that offer some good advice on outdoor kitchen design. There are also several articles posted to this very blog which may be of some assistance.

Build a Sandpit

A patio is a great way to utilize outdoor space. The only issue is that the kids would prefer to be outside running around which means they’re in the sun all day. Adding a sandpit underneath your patio will not only give them hours of enjoyment, but keep them out of the hot Texas sun on the warm summer days.

Remember, sandpits are fun for adults too 😉

A Spare Room

More and more of our customers are opting to have closed patios. These are usually walled in with glass and almost become a room in themselves. That being the case, why not consider putting a fold out sofa bed in there and using them room when you have friends or family come to stay.

Hopefully this post has given you some great ideas for making the most of your patio space. If you found this helpful consider sharing this information with your friends on Facebook.
