New-Construction-Building-Inspection

Building a new commercial structure or a residence is a major event. It takes a tremendous amount of planning to go into a major building project. Of course, the object is to complete all phases of the project within budget and still pass inspection with flying colors. The new construction building inspector is the professional that is generally employed by an outside source to give their unbiased, professional opinion about a recent building project. Their objective is to make sure that the building is safe for habitation, passes zoning regulations, and that the building also stands up to local building codes.

New Construction Building Inspectors

There are several categories of new construction and building inspectors. Each new construction and building inspector has their own specialty that they bring to the work. Let’s take a look at the categories:

Building Inspector – The building inspector checks to make sure that the structure is sound and safe for habitation. Some have sub-specialties in steel or concrete.

Home Inspectors – These professionals specialize in checking on the structural soundness of new homes, previously owned homes, town houses, condos.

Electrical Inspectors – They check the new construction building to make sure that the electrical system functions well and is up to local codes and standards.

Mechanical Inspectors – Check HVACR systems in the new home to make sure they are safe and function properly.

Plumbing Inspectors – These professionals check the plumbing in the building and make sure that the pipes function properly and the water is safe.

Plan Inspectors – They make sure that the plans for the new construction building meet local codes.

Public Work Inspector – Checks construction plans and work to make sure that it passes state, federal, and local codes.

Specifications Inspector – This professional makes sure that the building follows detailed specification.

State and federal codes were designed by the government to make sure that all new building constructions are safe for habitation and the environment. The building is thoroughly inspected for any type of faults. The building inspector is able to shut down the operation for violations of zoning laws or building codes. Without a building inspection, a faulty building would go up. Builders would not be obligated to correct the problems in the building. It is a safe bet to say that a building inspection provides a strong level of security, proving that the building meets code and is safe. The fact is that the building has to be declared safe before anyone is allowed to live in the structure.

New Construction Building Inspection

Some might assume that the building inspection goes through one phase. The fact of the matter is that the inspection goes through three phases. The first inspection should occur before the cement is poured for the foundation. The second phase of the inspection occurs before the walls of the building go up and the installation is installed. The third phase occurs at the point of completing the new building. This phase is also commonly referred to as the final phase of the building inspection.
